Explain what we are going to do today: worksheet, correction and game.

Remind them about the timeline project and give them the draft table for them to complete it. Also, it helps them to remember what they have to ask at home in case they do not know some information.

 Time:  15'

2.

Once the review is done, show them the worksheet that they are going to do and explain it, just in case that there are some doubts about the exercises.

Give them time to complete it for later correct it altogether.

 Time:  35'

3.

Play Bingo game to review some of the verbs studied!

Bingo:

There are several options to play this game. You can give students a table already made with the verbs on it or if you want them to be more implicated, give them a set of verbs and let them choose which one they want to use for their table.

Later, randomly pick one verb at a time and say it outloud. Students have to tick the square of the verb if they have it. The winner is the one that ticks them off first.

Students can write the verb in the past and the teacher say the verb in present when picking it or the other way around.

 Time:  10'

Further Extension

In order to carry out the review of the previous session or af the verbs several things can be done. You can play an introductory game, play a song and make them identify the verbs, etc.

Assessment tools

Observation during their conversations and interactions is key to have a clear idea on what they struggle or stand out.

Reviewing is always important to help students place their knowledge and review the concept to detect what they have learnt and what it should be put more focus on.

The worksheet is a good tool to see their progress, to identify which are the common mistakes, the strong and weak points of the students, etc.

Finally, the bingo game also shows their understanding on the verbs and if they know the past tense of some of it. Which are the verbs that they already know, who struggles more, etc.

Classroom Management

For this session, it is not indispnsable that students work in groups since the worksheet will take most of the session and it is better to be done individually, as the teacher wants to have an indivual evaluation of the progress of each student.

For the bingo, it can be done indivually, in pairs, tables, etc.

Attention to diversity

In order to provide some scaffolding on the language it is important to:

  • Provide materials and different resources to look for unknown words

  • Allow some student to take notes of difficult words.
  • Encourage them to create their own meaning (with their own words) of what they read or listen to.

Also, there are other factors to take into account and ideas that could work:

  • Give examples on each task so that they have a better idea of what they are expected to do.

  • Give simple and concise tasks.

  •

The worksheet helps to consolidate some concepts and to detect what they should practice more.
